Domaine du Colombier 2023 Crozes-Hermitage Blanc, Rhone Valley

Even more esoteric than Crozes-Hermitage Rouge is the white from the region, Crozes-Hermitage Blanc. Made from 85% Marsanne and 15% Roussanne, the nose on this wine reminds me of European breakfast breads, all rich, doughy, eggy with a slight yeast roll layer and stuffed with succulent dried stone fruits and fennel notes. Opulent and sultry. Think scallops, in brown butter, lemony butter kissed white fishes or chicken tossed over chewy strands of glistening pasta….now I’ve gone and made myself hungry. Try this cool wine and marvel in how different, but exotically beautiful it is.
