Domaine Germain 2022 Saint-Romain "Le Jarron", Bourgogne
This domaine started in 1955 but most of the wines were bulk sold until the next generation came on board and in 1983 the winery began bottling their wines under their name and started attending fairs around France. It was there that this little domaine started to get everyone’s attention. Once solely located in Saint-Romain, they know have holdings in Meursault, Volnay, Chambolle-Musigny and Puligny-Montrachet. Much more heralded and prestigious areas in Burgundy but that is where the smart shopper looks to Saint-Romain for a little relief in price. The vines for this wine were planted in 1947, are all hand harvested and when pressed are aged in 1/3 new oak which adds some richness and body, along with sexy spicing. Lime curd, white flowers, river stones and warmed brioche on the palate with a nice power and length. Only 150 cases made.
